Today’s morning glory — photo, my own

A simple stroke of warmth
revives morning’s glory,
convincing her to slip
off yesterday’s petals
to take the world’s
outstretched hand

Today’s smile spreads slowly
on bee’s wings buzzin’ ‘round
close enough to tickle
her belly, she forgets
worry of another
time, another place, and

Sighs to the rising sun,
throwing off soiled covers
of night until her cheeks
split open and she laughs,
despite herself
